May 20, 2014 by MilesFromBlighty 7 Comments

In order to get a bit rest after my visit to the new United lounges I booked a reasonably priced hotel at Heathrow. The Renaissance chain are part of the Marriott group and are usually considered 4*. AA: Some odd summer pricing from US East Coast to West Coast

May 18, 2014 by MilesFromBlighty 1 Comment

I was looking at prices for AA flight from New York and noticed that their pricing seems a touch odd. Good if you are looking for BA Tier Points, but even that needs careful searching. The cheapest way is via Chicago or Dallas, but less Tier Points. There is a flight where First Class is…

United’s new Global First and United Club lounges at Heathrow Terminal 2

May 18, 2014 by MilesFromBlighty 4 Comments

As a United 1K flyer I was asked to a Reception to mark the completion of the new United lounges at Heathrow Terminal 2. A totally new experience for Europe, the lounge is bright, airy and comfortable. A triumph in my view, and I cannot wait to get to use it in earnest.

May 17, 2014 by MilesFromBlighty 1 Comment

I received several emails with time changes for flights coming up at the start of June this morning. Weird I thought, as all flights to and from Cairo had changed by an hour. Had Daylight Savings/Summer Time just be discovered by Cairo? No, it appears that Egypt regularly change their clocks. For 2014: Friday, May…

Heathrow proposes congestion charge to pay for new runway

May 9, 2014 by MilesFromBlighty 1 Comment

In what must be one of the strangest moves by the operator of an airport I have ever seen, Heathrow has proposed to make it more expensive to drop off and collect passengers. Whilst the money raised is not destined to directly used to pay for the tarmac, it is destined to pay for transport…
