bmi to leave Star Alliance Company Plus – even for bookings made before the purchase by BA

blue text on a black backgroundCompany Administrators received an email from Star Alliance Company Plus (the business earning scheme for certain Star Alliance airlines). This informs us that bmi tickets will no longer SACP earn points for bmi flights after 19 April. Many organisations will already have tickets purchased in advance which now will not earn points. It is clearly disappointing and I am not sure a very good move for BA.

a close up of a messageMore concerning is the last paragraph where BA informes SACP that bmi/BA ‘will endeavour to honour such bookings’. A little worrying if you are the passenger and BA endeavours fail to honour the booking!

BA has its own Company rewards scheme – OnBusiness which one might hope would earn us points for flights from the 20th. But no details on earning there of course!

I fear this really is a very poorly handled sale from the passengers viewpoint.

  1. This is really bad news for Star Alliance Company Plus members but, as you say, the bit about “endeavour to honour such bookings” is ludicrous – there is no way such bookings should not be honoured.

  2. Is it fine to insert a portion of this in my personal webpage if perhaps I post a reference to this web-site?
