I used some of my Avios to travel from London to Cairo, which involved an overnight in Amman, Jordan. It’s a location I have never been to before, and as BA still fly the old bmi planes to some of it’s Middle East destinations, I got to try this also. (Two Firsts!). Leaving the BA…

BA Terminal 1 International Lounge, Heathrow
BA operates a small number of routes from Terminal 1 at Heathrow. A hangover from it’s purchase of bmi (British Midland International), they still operate two lounges there. One is for their Irish flights whilst the other covers their international flights, and is much the nicer. This is also the lounge being used by USAirways…
BA revamps its mobile app
I noticed yesterday that BA had redesigned their mobile app to make it more glossy. Flight information is presented on one screen, with the ability to change seats from within the app now provided. Account information looks the same, although it is banded in gold for my membership level. Transaction details are shown as they…
BA: European addresses still requiring less tier points for status?
My BA account has been in Denmark for several years now, and until a couple of years ago this required less Tier Points to qualify for Gold status. This deal was withdrawn and all BA customers are equal now, in terms of Tier Point requirements. Odd timing on some accounts appear to have extended the…
BA Year Ended…now with Zero Tier Points
Last weekend saw me on a short hop to Amsterdam, primarily to finish off my BA Year. Unusually, BA ends your status run at a date related to when you joined and earned status. Hence my year ends on 7 May . I had already renewed my status some months ago, but this trip pushed…
BA Lounge, Rome (FCO) Airport – huge!
I flew back from Rome on British Airways, who used a 767 on the Tuesday after Easter Monday to accommodate the crowd. BA operates its own lounge at FCO. Located after Security and Immigration, look for the sign. A large lounge with plenty of space.
Update on the AA schedule changes….
I posted yesterday about changes to a trip I had with AA to the Caribbean in the autumn. In short, the schedule changes meant misconnects in Miami, which AA had done nothing about. I have a further booking for November, that I decided to check after my post. It turns out that AA had done…
BA has fixed its discounted upgrade scheme
BA fixes it cheap upgrade system at last.
Does US ‘I’ class earn anything on BA?
In September I am travelling on an AA ticket via Philadelphia to Dublin. As you can see the USAirways portion books in to ‘I’ class: According to the BA web site this is a non-earning fare class: With American this would have been correctly treated as a Business Class fare. Let’s hope the AA/US integration…
