Fridays UA958 from Chicago to London diverted to Goose Bay. In the end and about 36 hours late, passengers will be arriving at lunchtime today in London, having flown back from Newark. Ouch!
Hyatt periodically offers sales and this one, for multi-night stays at a good number of properties, is decent. I’ve checked a couple of properties and the sale is real, in that it beats the normal best price. Check the list and see if you need to change any of your rates.
It looks like there might be a bug in the BA app for iOS. Anyone else got the same problem?
After an early morning faff around with my ticket I had 12 hours on USAirways to look forward to, travelling from New York to Honolulu. The review covers the seats, meals and service of the two flights connecting in Phoenix.
I don’t recall the last time that I stayed at a large hotel that was actually sold out. My Memorial Day weekend in Honolulu at the Hyatt Regency was exactly that, and whilst I didn’t score the customary room upgrade, it served as a reminder that sometimes you get what you pay for, and that’s not too bad.
The best laid plans can blow up when an airline makes even a modest schedule change. A trip in August (which I have had booked since November) imploded when a one minute shortfall in connecting times caused AA to drop the rest of my flights. Catching it in time, and having a plan about how I wanted it fixed, saved a lot of grief and a shed load of Tier Points.
It appears that another country has joined the number requiring travellers to obtain preapproval before flying to their country. The US, Sri Lanka and Turkey already need you to get permission, and now Canada is joining this band. CAD$7 for 5 years (or until your passport ends), it’s not required for US Citizens.
You can score extra savings on Hilton Summer Sale by joining the TopCashBack site and earning a rebate for booking via their web site links. 14% on the already discounted summer sale rates at Hilton is pretty good and of course the rebate can be taken as Avios or Tesco Clubcard points if you don’t want the cash.
BA’s little lounge at City fits the BA baby bus service to JFK, via Shannon. But a great crew and some tasty food made it a flight to remember.
