Has BA woken up and extended everyone’s status? And a 25% reduction for next year.

I’ve just received an email from BA entitled ‘Something to put a smile on your face’. Not much travel related can do that of course!

To say thank you for all your loyalty and support, we’ve added 12 months extra onto your Gold Guest List Executive Club membership. So you have more time to enjoy your benefits, whenever you’re ready to return to the skies.

What’s more, it will be even easier to retain your Gold Guest List status next time you’re up for renewal, as we’ve decreased the amount of Tier Points needed by 25%. This is the same for upgrade thresholds too, making that next Tier more achievable.

It’s not yet reflected on my account but I guess these things take time.

I am not sure if this is being offered to everyone in the Exec Club.

The web site says:

Coronavirus: How the Executive Club is supporting you

We’re adding 12 months extra onto your Executive Club membership – so you have more time to enjoy your benefits, whenever you’re ready to fly.

All members will benefit, starting with those who have a Tier Point collection end date of July 2020, through to June 2021.

What’s more, it will be even easier to retain your status next time you’re up for renewal, as we’ve decreased the amount of Tier Points needed by 25%. This is the same for upgrades thresholds too, making that next Tier more achievable.

This results in lower Tier qualification thresholds, as shown below:

  • Bronze: 225 Tier Points or 18 eligible flights
  • Silver: 450 Tier Points or 37 eligible flights
  • Gold: 1125 Tier Points

In the FAQ there is this:

We’ve decreased the amount of Tier Points needed by 25% to make it easier for members to retain or upgrade their membership. This reduced Tier Point requirement doesn’t apply to earning Gold Upgrade Vouchers or other membership benefits.

Comments

  1. Appears all elites at all three tiers have been extended… though the 25% reduction doesn’t appear to apply to the 2500 or 5000 Gold tiers.

  2. Months after their competitors, they announce the absolute minimum they could get away with but still overcharge and under deliver (See: catering, cleaning, cabin maintenance, IFE and Wifi availability).
Currently LH, QR, CX, AA: full meals, hot drinks, etc BA: sandwich in a bag
