BusinessExtra, the small business incentive scheme from American Airlines, is allowing free changes on tickets bought using the scheme.
To rebook you must call the office – I got through with one ring yesterday – before the start of the trip. You can then rebook until 31 December 2020. There is no rebooking fee.
If you’ve already cancelled your trip and your original departure date was between March 1 and April 30, you still have until December 31, 2020 to call 1-800-457-7072 and rebook with a one-time change fee waiver.
Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for upgrades – the most use I make of the points earned through tickets purchased on American, Iberia and BA. These require you to pay a fee ($125 for the first certificate, and $25 for the rest, in the same transaction). So, eventhough American has switched planes from 777-300’s to -200’s which have no First Class, you have to pay for the priviledge of getting the points back.
$250 to American won’t make much difference, but it was a bit disappointing.
