I connected in Singapore from BA to Cathay Pacific. Even though the Cathay preferred lounge was closer to their gates, I was keen to see what the new Concorde Bar was like. Reserved for First Class passengers, and it turns our Concorde Room cardholders.
When you check-in with the agents at the gate, the give you a little card with the PIN number for the room printed on the reverse.
By tapping this in to the iPad like device at the door, you are admitted. The large wooden door swinging open at your command is pretty cool. Once inside the room is dark with accented lighting. It can seat a good number of people and was not busy as I was there in the early evening.
The seating was varied and created little niche areas for passengers.
When I arrived there was only cold food available – cheese, sandwiches but a large range of drinks – alcoholic and non. At around 5pm hot food turned up. All the food is self-service and the staff came through fairly often to clear dishes.
The hot food was delicious – I especially recommend the satay and the pies. (No, I didn’t eat ALL the pies!)
A number of big LED panels showed images of Singapore.
My stay was pretty restful, but I took a short wander in to the main lounge as it is probably about ten years since I was in the BA lounge at Singapore. It has been remodelled and is bright and airy with lots of different food and seating areas, as well as a large business centre at the back. There are smart loos and showers near the front of the lounge.
The food the Bar and the main lounge was identical. It was busy by the time I left, as passengers were arriving for the evening BA flights.
All around, the lounge is pretty smart and the Concorde Room a haven of peace.
