PartnerPlusBenefit (formerly Star Alliance Company Plus) is a good way for you to earn some acclaim with your boss. It’s a scheme which allows companies to earn points, whilst their travellers continue to earn in their favourite frequent flyer programme. Yes, it really is ‘double dipping’. A win-win.

PPB points can be earned on a number of Star Alliance carriers – Air Canada, ANA, Austrian, Brussels Airlines, Germanwings, and just added Eurowings, Lufthansa, LOT, SWISS, Tap and United Airlines for tickets purchased in Europe. You simply enter your membership number when you make the booking, or enter the ticket numbers in to the PPB web site. After the flight is flown, the points show up. You need to nominate an Admin who has access to your part of the web site. They can check on points earned and arrange the rewards.

I’ve been using the scheme for a long time and cashed the points in for taxi rides to Heathrow, free tickets and most recently (having stopped flying United) for cash. Yes, cold hard cash. (Well to be fair a credit to my chosen credit card, but it turned up in about a week, although I am told it can take longer depending on the card you nominate)

Until 31 January you can earn triple points from the UK and Ireland to Geneva on Swiss.

The number of points earned depends on the fare class, flexibility and origin/destination. Rewards can even be claimed as Heathrow Express tickets. This is the full list:
