It appears that a large fire started in the roof of a hangar this morning at Dublin Airport – the start point for many mileage runs due to excellent fares in premium cabins.
The fire closed the airport for some hours whilst the fire brigade got the blaze under control with flights cancelled or diverted to other airports.
It appears that the airport closed for 90 minutes.
The 9am United flight to Newark left nearly an hour late, and the American flight to JFK left about 30 minutes later. Some flights to London City were cancelled on BA I see.
Hopefully no Tier Point runners were too impacted.
Any information on what was the possible cause, or what was in the hangar at the time?
