BA/AA launched a new fare sale from Dublin last week and it appears that AA is matching.
Of course the fare is not much use with United’s new earnings regime, nor is it as attractive as the super Danish deal that United refunded. But, if you are look for PQM’s or miles toward Million Miler status this is fairly good value.
This priced out around £1350.

With AA, you will earn full mileage credit, elite bonus, class of service bonus, and the new premium class bonus.

With United, 1K will earn 11 miles per dollar. In this case, around $2000 fare will earn you 22000.
So AA and United are really comparable. In fact, without the new premium class bonus that AA just introduced, 1K would come out ahead.
So don’t just assume the fare-based earning scheme is automatically worse.
