Hyatt opens first property in Cambodia – Park Hyatt Siem Reap

Hyatt have announced that they have opened a new property in Siem Reap in Cambodia. The property used to be called the ‘Hotel De La Paix’ but has undergone a 14 month refurbishment.

The property is 12km’s away from the airport – a $50 ride in a hotel provided limo but only $7 by Tuk Tuk!

The Angkor Wat UNESCO world heritage site is only 10km, or 15 miles away by car.

The property, with only 108 rooms, has a spa, two pools and wired/wireless internet. There are 13 suites of which 4 feature private plunge pools. There is an onsite restaurant for dinner and a lounge for afternoon tea or cocktails.

Room rates (for a random date in September) varied from $218/$276 (advance purchase) to $290/$370 (Business Room). At 15,000 Gold Passport points per night, this property seems a good use of them. There are few pictures of the property on the web site, but below is a shot of one of the rooms.

  1. I was in Siem Reap about a year ago when this property was undergoing renovation. Taking a tuk tuk from this airport to this property would be a horrible idea. The road from the airport to downtown is dusty and dirty. You’d be covered in dusty and filty before you even got to the hotel.

  2. This hotel was formerly the Hotel De Le Paix, one of the best properties in Siem Reap. Quite small, but great service.

I’m not sure what additional value the ‘Park Hyatt’ brand adds, other than a premium on the price! (I guess the ability to earn points and status is also a plus.)
