Further leaks from the UK Government have indicated that the announcement will be tomorrow. Clearly they thought better than adding this news on top of the UK’s 100,000th death, announced today.

The UK papers are suggesting that the scheme, which will start in two weeks, will apply to arrivals – UK and non-UK nationals from:

• Portugal
• Brazil and other South American countries
• South Africa

The papers have confirmed that it will last 10 days (no early release) and be at the cost of the visitor with arrangements needed for those who cannot pay.

Most flights from these countries have been cancelled anyway, so it will be interesting to see if they catch passengers transferring via third-countries.
