The Aloft hotel is located near to one of the exhibition centres in London, as well as near London City Airport. Located close to Prince Regent Station, which you can see on the right of the picture above.

The hotel is often on sale at weekends when there are no events at the conference centre or O2 arena. Its location makes it popular for people wanting to stay near these two venues.

The hotel offers the ability to use your phone as your room key – a simple tip – turn on the Bluetooth. I didn’t and lo and behold it didn’t work.

Once I had mastered this the process worked well. The front desk checked me in and gave me some drink vouchers to be used in the shop they have, as a Gold SPG member.

I had booked an Aloft suite as it was just a couple of pounds more expensive than the normal room. 48-51 square metres, it features three distinct areas – sitting room, bedroom and bathroom. This was the living room which a small table, sofa as well as a large (42″) HD TV. The windows were small but faced over Excel and docks.

The bedroom featured another TV and a large double bed.

There was a large shower but no bath tub.

The hotels has an interesting exterior finish and is designed as a lazy S shape.

The lobby is bright and airy with large windows overlooking the docks.

There is a Doubletree hotel about 5 minutes away across the car park.

City Airport is close, but too far to walk as it is across a bridge and would be hard with luggage.

All round a nice hotel, in a good location which can be had at good rates at weekends and on holidays.
