British Airways operates from the D gates at Barcelona and the single lounge only opens at 6am. This means that you don’t have much time to enjoy it before the BA flight boards. The gate BA uses is only a 10 minute walk from the lounge.
I was the first passenger of the morning and so had a chance to look around. The lounge accepts Priority Pass and is the oneworld lounge for carriers leaving from those gates.
The receptionist met me a warm smile, booked me in and told me to help myself. The lounge is huge! It is the only one in this area and you can see all the carriers that share it on the board in the picture above.
I had wander around and was impressed by the huge number of chairs in different parts of the lounge – including some nice day beds in an area with reduced lighting:
There was a wide range of cold food available which if I had not sneaked a McDonald’s I would have eaten.
Who doesn’t love a lounge with a Nespresso machine?
They do not make boarding announcements and so I wandered along in time for boarding to start.
I wish I had more time for the lounge – it had the largest range of fruit juices I had seen in the lounge and the red wine was out at 6am. Who couldn’t love it.
I’ve used this lounge a few times in the last two years. In my experience the sandwiches usually aren’t anything special as they don’t have much filling. The lounge gets busy in the afternoons as Emirates also use the lounge and they roster an A380 on the route. Saying that, it doesn’t feel as though it’s rammed because the lounge occupies a decent amount of floor space and is on the top level & doesn’t have a ceiling.
If I remember correctly they also have little pots of ice cream available in the freezer which is really nice.
