Review: Hyatt Place, Laguardia Airport

DSC00301

I need somewhere to stay between an arrival at New York’s JFK airport before leaving from Laguardia the next morning. The Hyatt Place beckoned – a decent price, free shuttle and a Hyatt stay. The taxi was about $35 from JFK to the hotel. It was not too bad for the driver to find, although it is on a one way street. The hotel is part of a small shopping centre but there are larger stores a 10-15 minute walk away. You could see Manhattan from my floor.

The reception was standard Hyatt Place layout with a small bar, larger breakfast seating area and a couple of PC’s with a shared printer for boarding cards.

I was given a standard room on a high floor. It had the featured seating area, a desk and chair, free WiFi and a Hyatt Bed. The lifts serve the apartments located above the hotel, and were perhaps a little slow for my liking, but they worked fine. The staff were friendly and helpful.

The bathroom was between the entrance door and the bedroom which seems to be the new HP layout. A nice large shower, basin and loo.

The room was light and bright, clean and tidy. A nice place to rest. There was a food menu in the room which allows you to order food and then collect it from Reception. They call you when it is a ready so you don’t have to wait around.

I slept well but had to leave too early to try breakfast. I had pre-booked a place on the shuttle and one of the Reception staff took me to Laguardia – in fact I had my own bus as there were no other passengers.

It is worth noting that the 7 line to Manhattan is within 10 minutes walk of the hotel. This is going to be my go to property at LGA now.

Comments

  1. Was thinking of staying here in the future. Just wondered about the condition of the rooms.
Hard to tell form the pictures. Were the rooms tired or new ?
