Hilton Amsterdam Airport

Slated for demolition in a few months, the Hilton at Amsterdam is walking distance from the airport. The route takes you past the Sheraton hotel, past the entrances to the various parking garages and out an exit door. A short exterior walk brings you to Reception.

Once you get to the end you take a lift or stairs to the ground:

The hotel is next to a large hole in the ground which is part of the airport expansion:

There was no noise from this site during my stay although there is a wing of the hotel which is away from the building work which you might want to ask for if the construction gets going during your visit.

I was fairly early at the hotel and the room they had allocated me in the ‘quiet wing’ was not ready. I was happy with another room, and they gave me one with a view of the airport and entrance roadway:

The rooms are not large at the hotel, but are well appointed:

The WiFi was free as a Gold HHonors member and I had access to the Executive Lounge on the top floor. I popped up for a coffee and found that the lounge is manned the whole time it is open. It’s not huge but there was never a problem getting seat. They had warm and cold options in the evening and morning. The staff were friendly and attentive.

The carpets are a little funky:

I had a good nights sleep and woke refreshed, ready for my trip to Shanghai. A good stay, and as I had booked during the sale, I had a good rate. It will be a shame when it closes as I understand that the new Hilton will be a bus ride away.

  1. I will be there for my layover in Amsterdam. Thanks for the pictures so I can find my way.

  2. LOL! I was just at the Amsterdam Hilton at the end of March… If you do go there and arrive at night, it’s a bit of hike to walk there. They have van that picks you up, but make sure you push the button at the bus stop (its in the back where the stop is); because they don’t come that often. Nice hotel; they treated us very nice though I wasn’t there very long.
