Entrée advance selection with American

I have some trips with American coming up in the next month and so decided to take advantage of their 30-day advance entree selection system. Typically American serve meals using a system called FEBO (Front Even, Back Odd), which indicates that the Flight Attendants take orders based on whether the flight number is Even or Odd. This can sometimes cause me to choose a seat in the position I would normally avoid as I would be unsure of getting my first meal choice if I chose a seat I preferred. (First World Problem, I know)

To access this feature need to open your booking at aa.com and then go down the page until you see this symbol:

a blue and white box with black textClicking the icon will open up the options. Where you have two flights – as in the example below, you need to choose each separately and then click [SAVE] in the bottom right. This trip is a three segment trip, but the system only shows the segments where meals are offered.

Information About Entrée Reservations

  • Entrée reservations are available in First and Business class on American Airlines marketed and operated flights within the continental U.S., and to/from destinations in Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, Central and South America and Asia
  • We can begin accepting reservations 30 days prior to travel and all orders must be completed at least 24 hours before departure
  • If your original itinerary changes, please reselect your entrée preference
  • We will do our best to accommodate your request, but there may be instances that prevent us from fulfilling your selection

This will be my first time using the new system so I shall be interested to see how it works on board.
