BA steps up services at London City Airport

London City Airport

British Airways made some announcements this week about their services from London City for next summer. Significant will be the removal of the turbo-prop plane used on the Dusseldorf flights. This is to be replaced with an Embraer 190 from May of next year.

This will bring BA’s fleet based at LCY to 25 planes.

There will also be:

  • three additional flights to Nice,
  • two to Faro, Florence, Ibiza and Angers,
  • one flight extra to Quimper, Venice, Palma, and Majorca.

The airline will also be increasing capacity and flights between LCY and the Isle of Man in 2016, going from 19 to 27 flights a week. Some of the additional services will be flown by Embraer 170s.

This is good news for fans of London City. Let’s just hope the airport steps up in terms of security wait times which can be murderous at peak times.
