Grand Hyatt Berlin, reclassifies it’s Suites

Almost a year ago I wrote about a stay at one of my favourite Hyatt’s – the Grand Hyatt Berlin.

This post explains how my Diamond Gold Passport Suite upgrade secured me a room that was not really a suite.

It appears now that the Diamond Gold Passport members using their suite upgrades are now to be upgraded to renamed ‘Deluxe King’ rooms which the hotel are now calling ‘Grand Suite’. It also appears that the old Grand Suites are now being relabeled ‘Grand View Suites’.

The room descriptions on the web site have yet to be updated, but the Flyertalk thread post linked above indicate that the change has happened at least when you check in.

It does make using the Suite Upgrades considerably less attractive at this property. The new ‘Grand View Suites’ (ex-Grand Suites) were excellent, whereas my stay in the old ‘Deluxe King’ room amounted to nothing more than a large ordinary room. Disappointing change from a property I have, until now, loved.

  1. I’m at Andaz Wall Street and they did the same thing: Deluxe king room of a shear ago is now classified as a suite – disturbing trend. I take it Diamonds are now upgraded to regular king ros at Hyatt Berlin?
