Despite being behind a paywall, you can see an article here about UK proposals to exclude a long list of currently allowed items from planes.  The idea, apparently, is to match restrictions imposed by the US, Australia, and New Zealand on powers on planes. Introduced after a plot to blow up a plane from Australia to Abu Dhabi the ban is supposed to be extended to the UK.

The limit in the US is 12 ounces of powder.

The TSA requires that the container be placed in a separate bin.
