British Airways has changed the menu in the Concorde Room at JFK recently and the offerings are better in my view. You secure access by flying First Class or having a Concorde Room card (5,000 Tier Points). The staff at the entrance are friendly and really helpful.
This is the shrimp starter, which was excellent.
This was the lamb entree, which was nasty with a good flavour:
I skipped the dessert.
There has been a number of comments on Flyertalk over the past week about poor service at this lounge, with people going to the First and Club lounges for better service. Personally, I have always been met with friendly and attentive service. There are less staff at JFK than at Heathrow, and the usually great guy doesn’t seem to have been around for a while. The suggestion is that it’s all been outsourced, in which case it’s a shame.
Not to open up a can of worms, but should it be “fewer staff” and not “less staff”? Maybe this is one of those U.K. vs U.S. differences.
I fully agree with you. I always enjoy the JFK Concorde Lounge as it brings back fond memories of the “good old days” of travel when sleeper seats to cross the pond were unnecessary.
