UK newspaper accuses BA of spying on its staff

The UK’s independent newspaper runs an article this morning accusing BA of intercepting email and phone calls of some of its employees during a bitter dispute in 2011. The airline, it is worth noting, denies the claims. The phones and computers, it should also be noted were the employers property.

It all appears to have come to light when Unite, the union in dispute with BA, fell out with a law firm that they were using to take action against BA. The lawyers sued and the papers became public as part of that litigation.

It appears that BA quietly paid £1m to the union in settlement.
