A few weeks ago I was asked to test a new App called MobileSuites. It is designed to enhance your hotel experience by providing a one-stop shop for pre-arrival requests, room service, taxis and check-out all in one app. They have a wide range of properties signed up to the service which I assume requires them to allow the app to access their ordering and billing services at the least. Having a look I spotted a lot of Hyatt and Starwood properties. The system uses GPS to offer properties close to your location so it’s easy to use if you are in-house.
This screen gives an example of basic data held for the Hyatt at Boston Harbor. Address information is useful if you need to cut and paste in to you sat nav.
For each property the app shows you services you can order. For me Room Service was the most interesting – it reflects the items from the in room dining menu. I pointed out to the developers that some of the prices differed but that this seemed to be about the tray charge and service charge levied by the hotel. You simply click on the items to order and submit room number and name.
You can also ask the hotel to call you taxi from the application.
Dinner Reservations at the property can be booked by calling them rather than using the app but at least that provides information in all one place. Opening times are incredibly helpful I find as I am often eating at strange times.
You can also order items in advance in a way that is possible via the link contained in the pre-arrival email link which can be handy if you miss that.
The application is keen that you pass comments back to the property which you can do even if you don’t receive a survey.
Lastly you can check-out using the app.
There were plenty of other properties in the city using the application too.
