Some months ago there was a mistake fare from Mahe in the Seychelles to Dublin, in Business Class on a mixture of Air Seychelles and Etihad.
The trick was arranging a flight to get me there, but luckily United’s partner Ethiopian came through with a routing from Dublin, via Frankfurt and Addis Ababa with Mileage Plus miles and not a lot in taxes. The FRA-ADD segment is on the 787, my first time.
It’s nearly 12,000 miles over a weekend so it’s going to be ‘fun’. However, there are a number of firsts for me:
- First time on Ethiopian Airlines
- First flight on a B787
- First time in Addis Ababa
- First time on Air Seychelles
- First time on Etihad
- First time in Abu Dhabi
- First stay at the Hilton Northolme, Seychelles.
Of course I’ll be writing about these as I go along. If you’d like to receive a daily digest of the posts from this blog you can subscribe from this page. Just enter your email address on the right under the Twitter box:
Any suggestions to help maximise these ‘Firsts’ ?
Really interested in your ET flights. Safe travels!
AWESOME, I will be right behind you in March! I am doing TK Business IAH-IST-ADD and Etiopian over to SEZ. Staying at the LeMeridan in SEZ and the new St. Regis in downtown Abu Dabi. I am really looking forward to your review!
Safe Travels!
Just curious why you are doing this since you will not earn any miles on either UA or BA; so why ‘waste’ time and money?
If you are flying ET in whY, the experience will be very familiar – similar to UA/Y except that you will get better food. The Hilton in Seychelles has definitely seen better days.
@Schrott:
I will be in ET in Business. As to the reason – well who can resist a sale, which is pretty much what the mistake fare is.
Plus I get to do the 787, ET for the first time and some of the other first.
I’ve never done an overwater villa before and this gave me a chance to get some sun when the skies in the UK are grey.
