The second night of my weekend in Cardiff was at the Holiday Inn, Cardiff. A short (5 minute) walk from the Hilton that I reviewed yesterday.
The property is also opposite the Castle, although I received a room overlooking the football ground and stadium.
There was a queue of about 8 people and the line moved slowly. Everyone seemed to have a dozen questions before the agent could get to the next person. The agent acknowledged my Priority Club Platinum status, and offered a snack/drink at the bar or 500 points, in line with the new policy. I picked the points and they posted within 48 hours, faster than the stay itself.
The room was on the 8th floor, and whilst small was well appointed:
The bed was not as comfortable as that at the Hilton, but there was a choice of hard and soft pillow.
The bathroom was small also, but had all that was needed:
The room was clean and there was a kettle for tea/coffee, which was supplied. There were enough towels but no bathrobe.
The view of the river and stadium was spectacular:
I had room service that evening, a burger and crumble. They were OK but no better than that.
At £74, about half the cost of the Hilton, it was good value.
What are the options flying to Cardiff on one world or star alliance ?
