With a $325m investment which gives it a 20% stake in Playa Hotels & Resorts B.V. (“Playa”), Hyatt has entered the all-inclusive resort market.
The first two Hyatt rebranded properties will be in Mexico and will re-open later in the year following refurbishment they announced. The next properties, Hyatt-branded resorts in Jamaica, Mexico and the Dominican Republic are expected to be introduced in 2014 and 2015.
It will be interesting to see how Hyatt plan to handle these properties from a Gold Passport point of view – Will there be a new category of property I wonder?
