Advance Warning – UK Airports likely to have long queues on 10 May

It appears that the bruised works at the UK Immigration Service are going to join the public service strikes planned for 10 May.

This is likely to make a bad situation already worse for people arriving.

To be fair, previous strikes have not had a massive effect, and I hear a rumour that the recent, well publicised problems, had a lot to do with staff using up annual leave in the days before the end the holiday year finishes. (In the UK it is quite common for things, like annual leave,  to run from 1 April to 30 March and then for employees to be allowed to carry a certain amount of holiday in to April. At the end of April it’s lost to them, so a lot of people will use up their left over leave in April).
