Everything seems to be moving pretty fast with the merger of bmi in to BA. So fast that some of the information was released by other Star Alliance airlines before bmi told us.

A minute ago bmi posted some Q&A’s on their Facebook page and it’s pretty shocking stuff:

** bmi plans to withdraw from Star Alliance in 2 weeks – on 20 April

** we can continue to earn Diamond Club status and miles until the end of the summer schedule – no word on what that will be worth once bmi leaves Star Alliance

** bmi are still working with other Star Alliance airlines so that members can continue to enjoy ‘certain benefits’ – no word on what these are or when we might know

** Earning and Redeeming on BA – watch this space, no news it would appear until after 20th.

All of these has been released on a Bank Holiday Friday in the UK, when most people are off work!

For me, travelling on bmi on 21 April, who knows where I will be able to earn miles, or whether I will even have a lounge I can visit in Terminal 1 at Heathrow on that day.
