My trip to Grand Cayman started from Dublin so I built in a quick overnight stay in order to make sure I was all Ok for the morning flight back to London. The Hilton sale offered the property for EUR56 for the Friday night I needed. When the upgrade window offered a suite for EUR25 more it was too good to resist.
The property is 10-15 minutes away from the airport on the motorway. The shuttle bus picks up about a 10 minute walk away from the Terminal at Dublin. There is EUR2 charge for the bus from the hotel, but it is free to the hotel.
When I arrived I must just have missed a bus as I had a 30 minute wait before one turned it. There was only one empty seat so at peak times you might have to wait quite a while.
On arrival at Reception I was told that the suite upgrade had cleared and that I was on the 3rd floor. They gave me my breakfast certificate and free internet code (Gold HHonors) and I was on my way. I also booked by transfer for the morning as I suspect that the buses get very full at peak times.
The room was located at the front of the hotel, overlooking the car park and the road crossing where I noticed that there is a shopping centre with a large Tesco foodstore, about a five minute walk away which would be useful if you had more time.
The room itself had a living room and a seperate bedroom. The bathroom was located off the bedroom.
The living had a couple of large sofas, a small table, a flatscreen TV and lots of light from the large windows:
There were four bottles of water and a bottle of nuts in the room:
The bedroom was spacious and airy, and equipped with another TV:
The bathroom was huge with a seperate shower and full sized bath:
The view from bedroom was of rolling Irish countryside:
I was leaving too early for breakfast (which starts at 6.30am, a little late for a hotel at an airport I would have thought) so I got a to-go bag:
Reception sold me the EUR2 ticket for the bus to the airport.
The bus was pretty busy and drops off at Terminal 2 first, then makes a long trip to get to Terminal 1. In retrospect I would have been better to have walked from T2 to T1.
if you are gold or diamond elite, you shouldn’t have to pay for an upgrade.
I stayed at this hotel and agree that it was very nice. I got a complimentary upgrade as a Hilton Gold. Of course, I was there in November and it was mostly empty.
Just stayed this past weekend for one night on Saturday. They had a live music band playing at their restaurant downstairs which was nice. As a gold member, we received two free drinks at the bar and free breakfast. However, I understand there was a power outage the night before but it did not effect me on my visit. Overall the hotel was very nice, however the beds could be better. Great hotel to stay at for the close hotel accommodations.
They charge for parking even for Gold members since facility is operated by another co in the basement.
However, if you talk to them nicely they may just waive it for you. They did for me.
