As we know bmi was sold lock, stock and barrell to BA (or rather International Airlines Group as they prefer to be known). They had to take bmibaby – the low cost version of bmi – with the bathwater, the bmi slots at Heathrow.

Now comes news from the BBC that bmibaby will stop all flights from Belfast on 11 June.

bmibaby fly Belfast to:

  • Alicante
  • Amsterdam
  • Birmingham
  • East Midlands
  • Faro
  • Ibiza
  • Mahon in Menorca
  • Malaga
  • Palma
  • Stansted

The telling paragraph is:

Peter Simpson, bmi interim managing director, said the company had lost £100m in in the last four years and would have to be “realistic” about its options.
