As with other schemes reviewed, LH provides cards in two different flavours – Amex and Mastercard.

Amex from MBNA

• 1500 miles when used within 90 days
• 2 miles per £1 for 6 months
• 1.5 miles per £1 after 6 months
• 16.9% APR. 0% interest on transfers for 12 months made within 90 days (3% fee) and 0% on purchases for 3 months

Measure – £12,000 spent in first year earns 22,500 miles

Miles and More VISA

• 1 mile per £1
• 16.9% APR

Measure – £12,000 spent in first year earns 12,000 miles

Based on the spend pattern, neither card will enable you to book a round-trip standard Economy award Europe->Europe on LH as this requires 30,000 miles.  However, LH do have MileageBargain flights which may enable you to cash in your miles
