Hilton Copenhagen Airport – a much better visit

I wrote a view weeks ago about an awful stay at the Hilton Copenhagen Airport. There were lots of comments about readers experience being very different to mine. Indeed when I complained to the hotel they credited back 50% of my room rate. And they promised to do better when I returned.

Of course, if you complain and then return the hotel usually manages to pull the cat out of the bag and to give you a great stay. The Hilton Copenhagen Airport? Well they gave me just what I was expecting, and no more. The expectation is that as a Diamond HHonors member you will secure a room on the Executive Floor and access to the lounge. This they delivered. Free Internet? Yes, that worked fine. 1,000 bonus points, yeap they posted fine to my account.

As always I used online check-in the day before and the hotel had already selected a room for me. Near the lounge and on the same floor. This is good news. Going up and down in  the lift to the lounge can be a pain. The room was one of their Executive Plus rooms which have been refurbished. A nice King Bed, a good desk with space to work. It was a quiet and comfortable room and I liked it.

The views from the hotel of the airport and terminal at Copenhagen Airport are super. To a certain extent you can watch the planes.

The lounge provides free alcohol and snacks in the evening and a continental breakfast in the morning.

The breakfast was substantial and if you like what was being served in the evenings, there was plenty of food available. Staff circulated and topped up glasses and chatted with guests.

The hotel is designed around an atrium which stretches the whole height of the property and for those without vertigo, provides great views through the heart of the hotel.

I had a good nights sleep with only a couple of banging doors interrupting my rest. The large bath was most welcome and I was ready for my flight home the next morning. The bill was correct at check-out and as it was raining I used the inside route to get to the terminal. It requires two lifts or escalators but does deposit you right where the main check-in desks are located.

So a good return visit, so much better than the first. I am back once more this summer and without the hotel treating me as special, I will report how that visit goes. As it’s for my birthday I do hope they make an effort!
