My trip continued with a reward ticket in First on BA to Miami. Whilst the onboard part of the trip created some challenges (see yesterdays post), I was very happy to arrive early at T5, as I was able to use the Concorde Room for the first time. I had prebooked a cabana (the private day rooms) so I knew I could have some peace, but when I arrived the lounge was almost empty:
I had breakfast before I entered the cabana:
The attendant located my booking from the list he had, and mentioned that 3 of the rooms were booked from 6am that day (including mine). This apparently is unusual, but is a good tip – book in advance if you would like to use one.
The Cabana consisted of a sitting/eating area with a day bed, a large TV and a separate bathroom and shower.
You can order food to the cabana by pressing a small bell on the desk. The WiFi works fine in the room and there are a number of lighting settings, depending on whether you want to work, relax or sleep.
The room was very comfortable, and provided everything you might need for a long or short layover in excellent privacy. My room was at the end of a short corridor and so there was no noise from the lounge.
Overall
Not as lovely as the cabanas at Cathay Pacific’s ‘The Wing’ lounge in Hong Kong, but an excellent experience.
I was literally just in the Cathay cabana about 10 minutes ago…and I thought to myself…it would be perfect if I could order a beverage into this room. Did I miss something? Otherwise – based upon your photos of the BA Cabana’s, I’d agree the CX product is superior – although both are VERY nice.
Maybe you didn’t realize it, but you can call for free anywhere in the world from the cabana desk phone
Do you wear shower sandals?
Where can I book in advance the spa and cabana? I tried to call Executive Club but they said it can’t be done. I’m confused. Thanks.
