The update from the end of yesterday appears to be that a French National has been detailed by the Police and will appear in Court on Monday. He appears to have approached the check-in desk and then run away, discarding an air rifle in a bin. When stopped reports say that he had a knife strapped to his body.

Whether this was simply someone trying to get these items home to France or whether he had a more sinister intent had he managed to get airside is not known.

The airport re-opened yesterday evening with delays and lots of passengers having missed flights.

We may know more on Monday when he appears at Crawley Magistrates Court.
