BA Business Class sale from Dublin (and Copenhagen)

BA launched an excellent Business Class sale from Dublin yesterday.
Fares range from EUR1140 to JFK and EUR1395 to Honolulu, San Francisco and Los Angeles. There are plenty of other destinations too!

Travel Dates:
23 Dec – 2 Jan
27 Mar – 12 Apr
1 Jul – 31 Aug
22 Nov – 30 Nov (may not be on sale yet due to date restrictions).

Bookable on BA.com and on the AmericanAirlines.co.uk web site if you live in the UK.

You can maximise Tier Points to Honolulu as the fare allows the use of the BA 1-4 services via London City. As there is now a flight from Dublin to LCY early on most mornings you can connect to the early departure for JFK (BA1). This has pre-clearance in Shannon making your arrival in the US as if you were a domestic flight.  Fares are slightly cheaper if you book a direct routing, via LAX to Honolulu on BA for example (make sure you get the A380).

How you book is a balancing act – with the American site you can more easily build complex routings that book in to higher classes of service and so earn more Tier Points with BA if you collect them. However, if you want to use BA to book they will only book your connecting domestic flights in to Business (you sit in the same cabin as First), so earn less Tier Points. For a LAX-HNL leg booking with BA.com in to Business (on a 2 class 757) you get 140 Tier Points and on AA.com you get in to First with 210 Tier Points.

If you are looking to maximise Tier Points, look at booking BA1-4 as they get 210 Tier Points per flight although it’s Business Class, and then connecting the next day via Phoenix on US Airways. AA fly three class planes to LAX from New York JFK and your ticket only books in to Business Class. A few more Tier Points for you.

If you book with BA on the phone they are happy to book you under the AA/US flights number and in to A booking class so you can still get a BA ticket and maximise tier points.
